You know what grinds my gears?
I hate it when people are more Catholic than their priests and bishops. I know no one who reads this blog ever does this, but some people like to sit at home at the dinner table and have a fit about their ecclesiastical authorities. They think that their knowledge, experience and faith exceeds that of the prelates, and that the authorities don't seem to have a clue about what they are doing.
The reality is that those of us who sit at home complaining are the ones that often don't really have a clue about what is going on in the world of the bishop or priest. Yes, I do my own fair share of complaining, I will admit. That being said, an honest, simple, calm and clear observation of situations is one thing. Getting in a huge flap and letting Liturgical issues, for example, destroy your interior peace is not something that comes from God. Then you have crazies start publishing openly anti-bishop things (in an effort to bully the bishop maybe? FYI, that never works). Is this what we have learned to do as Catholics?
Give those guys a break, man. They are people too and are doing the best they can with what they've got.
I just had to get that off my chest.
